FAQS

  • To ensure a smooth experience at our public yard, please follow these steps:

    1. Arrival: Upon arriving, please park safely in one of our designated parking spots off Dundas St West.

    2. Check-In: Our staff will help to identify your material and direct you on how to proceed. This may include helping to sort your material, providing handling tips or directing you to an alternative drop off location inside the yard, depending on the quantity and types of materials.

    3. Unloading & Weighing: Once directed, you may unload your materials into the provided carts to be weighed or off loaded in the steel yard. If you have any specific needs or disabilities, please let us know so we can help accommodate you.

    4. Payment: After your material is weighed, you’ll receive an inspection ticket from one of our metal graders, which can be redeemed for payment at the 'Scale House' within the yard.

    5. Departure: Once your transaction is complete, please exit the yard safely.

  • We are open Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:00pm & Saturdays 7:30am-12:30pm. Please arrive at least 30min before closing to ensure enough time to unload your material.

  • There is no minimum for non-ferrous (copper, aluminum etc) metals.

For steel, we have a minimum of 100lb of steel on our truck scale. Customers may drop off less than 100lb of steel to recycle, but they will not be paid. This reflects the cost to recycle small amounts.

  • We do not provide pick up for residential households. We may be able to refer you to a company who will pick up your metals.

  • Our staff will help you identify the type of metal you have once you arrive at our yard.

  • We do not accept material that does not have metal. We only recycle metallic items at Canada Iron & Metal and cannot dispose of garbage waste. We do accept items that are a combination of metal and non metal.

  • Canada Iron offers competitive pricing for your metal. We ensure customers are treated fairly and receive top dollar. The pricing for metal vary depending on the type of metal and the fluctuations in the market. Our scales are calibrated and certified regularly. Contact us to get today’s pricing for your metal.

  • Canada Iron does not resell metal or used car parts to the general public. Our metal is quickly sorted, processed, and made ready to recycle. It is not available for resale.

  • Yes. We accept all types of electronic waste. For a list of what we buy see above.
